Now a registered Historical Pennsylvania Landmark, the original home of PONY Baseball was built by a volunteer workforce in 1952. The first World Series played on this field was 1953. Upon the passing of founder Lew Hays in 1998, Pony Field was renamed Lew Hays Pony Field.

Many improvements have been made in recent years. The pressbox has undergone a drastic upgrade. The playing surface has been greatly improved to increase durability and safety. A new sprinkler system is an integral part of the ongoing restoration project. New seating and a new souvenir stand have made Lew Hays Pony Field more fan-friendly. Handicapped accessibility has been improved in the seating area and in the restroom facilities. More recently, new lights and fencing were installed to improve the safety and aesthetics at Lew Hays Pony Field.

World Series Tournaments Incorporated (the organizing body of the Pony League World Series) has been at the forefront of the restoration effort since 1992, when the Pony Field Restoration Committee was formed. More than one-quarter million dollars have been spent on improvements to Lew Hays Pony Field. Volunteer labor and donated supplies have made much of the restoration possible. More improvements to the field, the pressbox, and the seating area are in the future.

World Series Tournaments Incorporated has accepted the responsibility of making Lew Hays Pony Field a facility worthy of what Mr. Hays made possible. Many volunteers work throughout the year to maintain and upgrade the field. What is always needed, though, is the financial resources to make it possible. Any help is appreciated by anyone who loves youth baseball, anywhere.
